Do you believe that Jesus is the only way to God? You are in the minority !

We are looking into the claim that Jesus is the only way to God. A recent study on religion in  America revealed that 70% of Americans believe that many religions can lead to eternal life. 65% of self identifying Christians believe that there are many paths to God. The most shocking finding was among Evangelical Christians , 56% of all Evangelical Christians believe there are many paths other than faith in Christ. It seems like this historical Christian belief is becoming increasingly unacceptable in our pluralistic society among non Christians as well as professing Christians. The place for us to start is in the garden of Eden. Most of us are familiar with the story of Adam & Eve and their temptation by Satan. The story is found in the book of Genesis chapter 3. In this chapter Satan approaches Eve and tries to convince her of partaking of the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. The key verse for us is verse 5 where Satan goes on to say ” For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God KNOWING GOOD AND EVIL ” . Knowing good and evil has the idea of knowing by observation what is good or bad for you. If taking of this fruit enables you to develop the capacity to observe situations & be able to know what is good or bad,  why do you need God? The idea is one of autonomy, an independence from God. Both Adam and Eve decided to take the fruit and in so doing they decided that they wanted to decide for themselves what is good or bad. What were the consequences of their actions not only for themselves but also for the entire human race?
